LIONFISH CARIBBEAN
Lionfish Dishes and Jewelry
A Culinary Approach to Reef Protection
Lionfish Caribbean stands out immediately with its bright pink exterior, but the concept goes even deeper. The menu centers around lionfish, an invasive species in the Caribbean, prepared in a variety of ways that highlight its mild, delicate flavor, often compared to a cross between cod and lobster.
The space also includes a boutique featuring handcrafted jewelry made from lionfish fins, along with workshops that offer a more hands-on experience. These sessions combine learning about the species with creating your own pieces, followed by a meal that brings the concept full circle.
Lionfish first appeared in Curaçao’s waters around 2009 and, without natural predators, has caused significant damage to local reefs. Founder Lisette built the concept around actively removing the species, often diving herself to source the fish, then transforming it both in the kitchen and into jewelry. The result is a unique combination of dining, sustainability, and storytelling.
Located in the center of the village square, the space is easy to spot, marked by its bold color and signature lionfish sculpture just outside.
